Tilt Renewables is an Australian renewable energy developer, owner and operator with a long-term focus on building and managing high-quality renewable generation assets. With 1.9GW of operational assets and a development pipeline of more than 5GW, Tilt is entering an exciting period of continued growth.
The business currently operates 12 renewable energy sites, representing approximately $4.8 billion in asset value, with a further two projects under construction.
With corporate offices in Sydney and Melbourne and a growing team of around 150 people, Tilt Renewables takes a pragmatic, commercially focused approach to developing, operating and optimising its renewable energy portfolio.
About the Role
This is a senior leadership position that will play a central role in supporting Tilt Renewables' continued growth and the performance of its operational portfolio.
Reporting to the EGM Operations and Markets, the Head of Asset Management will lead a team of five Asset Managers across operational assets and property, providing strategic direction and leadership across the portfolio.
The role is responsible for ensuring Tilt's renewable generation assets are safely, reliably and commercially optimised, balancing technical performance, financial outcomes, regulatory compliance and long-term asset value.
You will lead the development and implementation of asset management strategies across the portfolio, manage key operational and maintenance contracts, oversee financial performance and work closely with internal engineering, grid, markets, development and delivery teams.
A key aspect of the role will be working closely with the Head of Asset Engineering, ensuring asset performance opportunities are identified, prioritised and delivered across the fleet.
This is a role suited to an experienced asset management leader who can operate at both a strategic and hands-on level, make commercially sound decisions and build strong relationships across a diverse stakeholder group.
The position can be based in Sydney or Melbourne, with regular travel to Tilt's operational assets as required.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Asset Management team, building a high-performance, collaborative and accountable culture.
- Provide strategic leadership across the management of Tilt Renewables' operational asset portfolio.
- Develop and implement long-term asset management strategies that optimise performance, costs and whole-of-life asset value.
- Oversee Operations & Maintenance, network connection and other key operational service contracts.
- Manage commercial relationships with OEMs, O&M providers, EBoP/CBoP contractors, network operators and other key suppliers.
- Maintain a strong focus on safety, environmental performance and regulatory compliance across the portfolio.
- Take ownership of financial performance, including budgeting, cost control, financial reporting and investment/business case development.
- Identify and prioritise opportunities to improve asset performance, reliability and commercial outcomes.
- Work closely with the Head of Asset Engineering to translate performance and engineering insights into practical initiatives across the fleet.
- Ensure assets remain compliant with the National Electricity Rules, planning and environmental requirements, PPAs and other regulatory and commercial obligations.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders across Engineering, Grid, Markets, Development, Delivery, Land, Legal, HSE, Finance and Technology.
- Maintain effective relationships with landholders, neighbours, regulators, AEMO, DNSPs, TNSPs and other external stakeholders.
- Monitor industry developments, market trends and broader factors influencing Australia's energy transition.
- Drive continuous improvement, innovation and the identification of short- and long-term opportunities across the asset base.
- 7+ years' experience in asset management, ideally within renewable energy or another complex infrastructure environment.
- Proven experience managing complex commercial and operational contracts, particularly maintenance/service agreements.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, including budgeting, cost management and business case preparation.
- Experience leading teams and developing high-performance cultures.
- Strong understanding of safety, environmental and health management systems.
- Knowledge of utility-scale renewable energy assets, ideally across wind, solar and battery storage.
- Understanding of wind turbine technology and utility-scale solar projects.
- Understanding of battery energy storage systems.
- Good knowledge of the Australian National Electricity Market (NEM) and the broader Australian energy industry.
- Engineering degree, trade qualification, relevant technical qualification, or demonstrable equivalent asset management experience.
- Full Australian driver's licence.
