Morson Edge is working exclusively with Nordex to recruit a Contracts Manager for the delivery of Puke Kapo Hau Wind Farm, located west of Dunedin on New Zealand’s South Island.
This is a landmark project for Nordex, representing its first wind farm in New Zealand and an important step in the continued growth of its Oceania business.
Puke Kapo Hau will comprise 40 wind turbines and forms the Stage 2 expansion of the existing Mahinerangi wind farm. Together, the two sites will form New Zealand’s largest wind farm, with a combined capacity of approximately 228 MW.
About the Role
The Contracts Manager will take responsibility for the commercial and contractual management of Nordex’s scope throughout the delivery of the project.
Working closely with the Project Manager and wider project team, you will manage contractual obligations, commercial risk, variations, claims and key interfaces across the project.
This is a hands-on project role suited to an experienced Contracts Manager who is comfortable operating in a complex construction environment and working closely with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage contractual and commercial matters throughout project delivery.
- Administer Nordex’s key project contracts and ensure contractual obligations are understood and met.
- Identify, manage and mitigate contractual and commercial risks.
- Manage variations, claims, extensions of time and contractual notices.
- Support negotiations with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Monitor contract performance, milestones and commercial outcomes.
- Maintain accurate contractual records, correspondence and documentation.
- Work closely with Project Management, Construction, Procurement and Finance teams.
- Provide commercial and contractual advice to the wider project team.
- Support the effective resolution of contractual issues and disputes.
- Previous experience as a Contracts Manager, Commercial Manager or similar within major projects.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts, contract administration and commercial risk.
- Experience managing variations, claims, notices and contractual negotiations.
- Background within renewable energy, power, infrastructure or major construction projects.
- Strong commercial acumen and attention to detail.
- Excellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced project environment.
- Wind energy or renewable energy experience would be highly regarded.
