Clyde | Permanent Full-Time | Senior HR Leadership
An established and high-performing construction business is seeking an experienced HR Manager to lead its people function and play an influential role in the continued growth and development of the organisation.
This isn't a role for someone who wants to simply maintain an existing HR function. We're looking for a commercially minded, energetic HR leader who enjoys being visible in the business, challenging the status quo and working closely with leaders to build a high-performing, engaged and accountable workforce.
You'll have the opportunity to influence culture, leadership capability and people strategy while remaining close enough to the business to understand what is happening on the ground.
The Opportunity
As HR Manager, you'll take ownership of the broader people and culture function and act as a trusted partner to senior leadership.
You'll work across employee relations, performance, leadership development, engagement, workforce planning, remuneration and organisational capability, while continuing to strengthen the systems and processes that underpin the HR function.
This role will suit someone who brings ideas and momentum. Someone who doesn't wait to be asked what needs improving, but can identify opportunities, build support around them and turn them into action.
What You'll Be Doing
- Partner with senior leadership on people strategy, organisational capability and workforce priorities
- Provide commercially focused HR and employee relations advice across the business
- Lead performance management processes and support leaders in building high-performing teams
- Coach managers through complex people, performance and behavioural matters
- Drive initiatives across employee engagement, culture and retention
- Develop leadership capability through coaching, development and targeted initiatives
- Lead succession planning, talent development and workforce planning
- Review remuneration, performance and recognition frameworks
- Identify opportunities to strengthen the employee experience across the full lifecycle
- Ensure HR policies, practices and processes remain compliant with Australian employment legislation
- Use people data and business insights to identify trends and inform decision-making
- Continuously review and improve HR systems, processes and ways of working
- Partner with the broader business to ensure people initiatives translate into measurable outcomes
We're looking for an established HR professional with strong generalist capability, but equally important will be how you operate.
You'll be comfortable working in an environment with high expectations, strong personalities and leaders who value pace, accountability and results.
You'll ideally bring:
- Significant experience in a broad HR Manager, Senior HR Business Partner or People & Culture leadership role
- Strong employee relations and performance management capability
- A sound understanding of Australian employment legislation and contemporary HR practice
- Demonstrated experience partnering with senior and executive stakeholders
- Experience influencing culture, engagement and organisational performance
- Confidence coaching and challenging leaders when required
- The ability to move comfortably between strategic initiatives and hands-on HR matters
- Strong commercial judgement and an understanding of how people decisions affect business performance
- A proactive mindset with the energy to identify opportunities and drive them forward
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build credibility across both corporate and operational teams
- You MUST have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency
You'll be someone who brings energy to a room, builds relationships quickly and genuinely enjoys being involved in the business. You're proactive rather than reactive, comfortable challenging existing thinking and motivated by seeing initiatives move from an idea through to implementation.
You won't need a perfectly defined roadmap before getting started. You'll be confident assessing what the business needs, establishing priorities and creating momentum.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
This is an opportunity to take ownership of HR within an ambitious construction environment where people, performance and culture are genuinely important to the continued growth of the business.
You'll have access to senior decision-makers, the autonomy to bring forward new ideas and the opportunity to influence how the organisation develops its leaders, retains its best people and continues building a high-performance culture.
For an HR professional who wants to build, influence and improve rather than simply maintain, this is an opportunity to make a genuine impact.
