Our client is a well-established food manufacturing business supplying high-quality products to major retailers and consumers across Australia. Operating from a modern production facility in Melrose Park, they are committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and operational excellence.
Due to continued growth and investment in their manufacturing operations, they are seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join their maintenance team.

About the Role

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of production equipment across the site. Working within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment, you will be responsible for preventative maintenance, breakdown response, fault finding, and continuous improvement initiatives.

This position operates on a rotating roster consisting of both day and night shifts, incorporating a mix of 8-hour and 12-hour shifts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance on production and packaging equipment
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults to minimise downtime
  • Perform routine inspections and equipment servicing
  • Participate in planned shutdowns and maintenance projects
  • Assist with equipment upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with site safety and food quality standards
  • Complete maintenance records and documentation accurately
About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
  • Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter or Fitter & Turner
  • Previous experience within food, beverage, FMCG, packaging, or manufacturing environments
  • Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience working with conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, pneumatic systems, and production machinery
  • Ability to work effectively across rotating day and night shifts
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality standards
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
